I'm so steamed about this I just have to post.

I'm replaying (I thought for fun!) the Fluttershine level where you have to
rescue the Black Knights and then storm the Fairy fortress. Trouble is,
even though I've built the requisite rooms, Lair, Hatchery, Training Room,
and Torture Chamber, these ***king Black Knights keep rebelling and
attacking my Dungeon Heart the moment I free them! WTF! I never had this
problem when I played through the first time. What the hell am I missing?!
I've tried replaying this level a number of times but these ungratefull
***kers keep turning on me. Please tell me what I'm doing wrong before I
crack the CD in half and toss it in the trash.

Dave (can you tell I'm a little frustrated?)

I don't notice a Treasure Room there - Black Knights are *expensive*
to keep. And they're angry when you first meet them, because they've
been imprisoned. As you release each one, pay it a little bit of gold
by Hand to cheer it up.

Black Knights have nothing to do with Torture Chambers - that's Dark
Mistresses. What they want, is the chance to *fight* - they want
Combat Pits.

It's because they're in prison and YOUR creatures to begin with. If
you take too long to rescue them, they get mad.

Build a Lair, hatchery, treasury, and CASINO. :)

They may not have gotten mad (or didn't get mad as fast) pre-patches
because creatures didn't get hungry while imprisoned/in the Pit etc.
before. Maybe that's why you didn't have problems with it last time.

You can successfully get almost all of them before they get mad, if
you rush. However, I always end up with at least 2 or 3 who are 'mad'
by the time I get 'em.

Luck.

As suggested, you might try tossing each Black Knight a little gold as
soon as you free him. You might also pay attention to what they're
unhappy about - sleep or food, for example - and drop them where they
can satisfy those needs. I usually just try to overwhelm them with my
other creatures when they rebel and convert them back to my cause in
the torture chamber. I'm a cautious player and seldom free the Black
Knights soon enough to keep them from getting unhappy in their
prisons.
